Sharjah announces AED 29.1 billion 2020 budget

According to the local newswire, the Government of Sharjah has unveiled a budget of AED 29.1 billion for the year 2020, a two percent increase compared to 2019’s budget. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, the Chairman of Sharjah Central Finance Department, said, “The general budget for this year is considered the largest in the history of the emirate.” More than one-third of its general budget will be allocated towards infrastructure development. The emirate will also spend on economic development, which is expected to create about 500 new jobs for Emiratis.
